JOB SUMMARY
The Maintenance Utility Person is responsible for providing assistance in engineering operations; including maintenance, repair of hotel property, outside grounds, hotel equipment, preventative maintenance and asset protection. Follow Inn of the Governors high standards of quality to ensure guest satisfaction.
JOB DUTIES
1. Engineering: Learns and demonstrates the ability to maintain property assets. Works with the Chief Engineer to understand preventive maintenance, equipment repairs, routine inspections and capital expenditures. Learns the impact of maintaining company assets and how it impacts the overall financial success of the hotel property.
2. Guest service: Assists and responds to guests requests in a friendly and positive manner, while providing the highest level of service. Ability to assist guests by having knowledge of hotel property, guest room repairs and common area maintenance. Personally sets a strong example for other associate through exceptional guest service.
3. Identifies concerns and provides maintenance solutions: Assesses and evaluates property assets through preventative maintenance. Works with appropriate managers in a respectful and courageous manner to recommend maintenance service solutions.
4. Follows Inn of the Governors standard operating procedures: Works with the Chief Engineer to learn, understand and execute on all engineering SOP’s.
5. Works collaboratively with all others: Works as a team player in meeting guest needs, and actively contributes to the efforts of other departments when necessary. Completes all assigned duties inside or outside the normal scope of responsibilities within the engineering department.
6. Works safely: Maintains a clean and safe work area in compliance with Inn of the Governors, local, state and federal regulations. Uses personal protective equipment when needed. Follows all Inn of the Governors procedures for guest/associate incidents. Knowledgeable of hotel emergency procedures.
7. Self-Management: Produces required volume of work by planning, organizing and prioritizing work duties as presented by the Chief Engineer. Adheres to Inn of the Governors employee handbook. Attends all required department and hotel meetings.
8. Responsible for compliance with ADA requirements.
9. Trash room maintenance
10. Assist Lobby Attendant with heavy duty exterior cleaning and maintenance projects
11. Clean and maintain chemical balance of pool
12. Maintain fireplace areas (includes all rooms with fireplaces and all restaurant area) stocked with wood and clean out any debris/ash from fireplace areas
13. General painting projects in the property
14. Snow removal and salting of property
15. Performs other duties as assigned
QUALIFICATIONS
Physical requirements
1. Must be able to lift and carry up to 75lbs.
2. Works in poorly lit crowded and hazardous areas.
3. Frequent climbing of stairs required.
4. Works outdoors and on roofs in hot or cold weather.
5. Must have good hearing and eyesight.
Education and Experience
1. High school or GED preferred
2. Some formal training in HVAC desirable.
3. General knowledge of property maintenance and painting
