I’m a sculptural mixed media artist looking to hire a curious, open hearted and organized studio assistant to start working with me in September.
Ideally our schedule together would be 10am - 4pm, 2- 3 days a week with a starting pay of $20/hr
Job Description:
Fabrication and Sourcing
The role will include making pieces and working with a variety of material. We’ll often figure out the best way to do things as we go, which includes research, experimentation, collaboration and listening to the material itself. We’ll be working in a variety of mediums and making modalities and using material in new ways. The role will include occasional coordinating or communicating with contract fabricators and researching, ordering and sourcing material for our projects. Our practice of making also includes ‘mindful making’ — often entailing periods of silence so we can tune into the material we’re working with and allow it to teach us, inform us, and talk to us.
Project Management
We’re looking for someone to help keep the studio organized and on track. Sometimes we are working on many different projects at once, so the role of the studio assistant will also include managing project timelines and prioritizing certain tasks based on our goals.
