Rio Grande School is an interdisciplinary school that serves students from three years old to grade six, with class sizes ranging from 14-21 students, a 6:1 student educator ratio, and a total school population of 165. Located at the base of the Sangre De Cristo Mountains on five acres of high desert, surrounded by arroyos and hiking trails, Rio Grande School is perfectly situated for students to engage with both the natural wonders of the outdoors and the academic rigors of the classroom. By nurturing this culture of thinking our students are taught to think critically to be both leaders and learners.

Rio Grande School is seeking a skilled professional to serve as the Associate Director of Enrollment and Development. This position reports directly to the Associate Head of School as a support to the Enrollment and Advancement Offices. The primary responsibilities for this individual will be to operate and manage the entire admissions process from inquiry to on-boarding. Additionally, this person will assist with projects related to fundraising and community building in support of RGS’s strategic goals and mission. This is a full-time, twelve-month position.

Position Qualifications:

Must believe in and support the Mission of Rio Grande School

Must enjoy working with elementary age students – must be creative, consistent, empathetic and charismatic

Must have bachelor’s degree in a related field (education or business)

Must have 3+ years of similar work experience

Excellent written and oral communication skills

Must be business software proficient

Demonstrated ability to maintain grace under pressure and maintain professionalism and discretion in all aspects of representing the school

Knowledge of, appreciation for, and demonstrated commitment to anti-bias education

Private, non-profit, and/or boarding school experience a plus

Must be willing to work nights and weekends for special events; may travel; must have a valid driver’s license

MUST pass background check and must be fully COVID vaccinated (or have a medical or religious exemption).

Position Responsibilities:

Managing the student admission and enrollment process, including but not limited to:

Working with the administration and faculty to create and implement the school’s admission policies and procedures;

Conducting admission tours and answering parent questions regarding curriculum and educational philosophy;

Coordinating testing/evaluating students for admission to the school;

Arranging/attending group screenings for potential early childhood program, kindergarten, and elementary students;

Coordinating and preparing files for admission committee meetings;

Maintaining admissions data in VeraCross (Student Information System);

Chair of the admission committee;

Serving on the tuition assistance committee;

Coordinating admission open houses;

Following up with newly admitted families to track satisfaction and provide ongoing support;

Organizing new parent orientation;

Maintaining records and data from inquiry through enrollment;

Managing new student enrollments and current student re-enrollments; New family onboarding.

Assisting the Associate Head of School for Advancement with fundraising events, database management, gift solicitation, including but not limited to:

Assisting with the annual development fundraising events (Gala,

Grandparents Day, Annual Gathering, etc);

Managing all aspects of the Annual Giving Campaign;

Recording and tracking all donations/fundraising efforts in our database;

Maintaining information on in-kind gifts;

Researching the giving capacity of our donor base;

Providing statistics for the Development sections of the annual NAIS report;

Preparing reports for the annual audit;

Maintaining Alumni, grandparents, and current family records and giving histories;

Other duties as assigned.
