Garcia Street Club Preschool is Seeking a Kitchen Coordinator!
The Kitchen Coordinator is responsible for the smooth day-to-day operations of the GSC Preschool kitchen, overseeing food preparation, managing inventory, ensuring food quality, and maintaining a clean and organized workspace by coordinating food preparation, ordering supplies, and adhering to food safety regulations. The Kitchen Coordinator prepares and serves breakfast and snack daily for five classrooms of one to five year-olds. In addition, the Kitchen Coordinator assists with cleaning and various organizational projects throughout the school as well as covering for teachers while they take breaks and meet for planning time.
Essential Duties:
Food Preparation
Plan weekly breakfast and snack menu, based on 3-week cycle
Prepare simple breakfast daily (Examples include oatmeal, cereal, bagels, waffles, quesadillas, etc, all served with fresh fruit) according to food safety standards
Prepare simple afternoon snack daily (Snacks include crackers and cheese or peanut butter, peanut butter and jelly sandwiches, vegetables and hummus, etc.) according to food safety standards.
Oversee cleanliness and organization of kitchen
Ensure food is prepared according to recipes and quality standards.
Maintain proper food storage and handling practices to comply with food safety regulations. Monitor to prevent foodborne illness.
Inventory Control:
Monitor and manage kitchen inventory levels
Monitor and manage janitorial supply levels
Place orders for food supplies, janitorial supplies, and equipment as needed
Kitchen Operations:
Creates weekly menu and coordinate meal preparation and timing to meet daily schedule
Oversee the cleanliness and organization of the kitchen
Classroom Support:
Cover teachers during break time as needed
Interact with children in a loving and age-appropriate manner, according to GSC’s Positive Discipline and Guidance Policy
Help teachers prepare for cooking and nutrition projects as needed
Communication and Collaboration: The kitchen coordinator must possess strong written and verbal communication skills, excellent time management skills, and work well as part of a team. Our school is a fast-paced and dynamic environment that requires employees who are flexible, adaptable, and able to multi-task, switching between projects at a moment’s notice.
