St Elizabeth's Casa Familia Shelter and Supportive Housing is dedicated to assisting homeless individuals and families by providing emergency shelter, case management, food, communication services and referrals to partnering human service agencies. Casa Familia's ultimate goal is not only to shelter the most vulnerable, but to help end the cycle of homelessness.
Casa Familia is St Elizabeth's emergency shelter for single women and families with children. Casa Familia is a sober facility, no drugs or alcohol are allowed. Casa Familia is a referral based program and works with the guests to help them learn life skills and transition into housing.
Position Summary
Shift Supervisors work with women and families experiencing homelessness within a residential shelter program performing various duties under the supervision of the Program Manager. Shift Supervisors are responsible for house safety, appropriate interactions with guests, excellent customer service while interacting with donors, the community, and office tasks. The ideal candidate would be a multi-tasker who is a good team player as well as able to work independently.
Essential Responsibilities
Assisting with the responsibilities for daily front office operations, which include but are not limited to these specific duties:
Answering phones and receiving phone calls and requests from other agencies
Making referrals
Receiving, sorting, distributing and logging in donations
Giving information to the public on services provided
Providing direct services to shelter guests and non-guests, intakes, departures, check in process, referrals, assisting with distribution of supplies and medication
Monitor and promote appropriate interactions among guests
Respond to any crisis or difficult situations that may arise, making the appropriate referrals, calling the police, paramedics or the Crisis Response Line (on-call staff will be available for assistance)
Assisting in promoting compliance with rules and policies
Oversee safety of guests and shelter
And other duties as assigned
Comfortable working with children
Comfortable working with individuals experiencing mental illness and substance use disorders.
Must be able to work in a high stress environment, and to respond to any crisis or difficult situations that might arise.
Must work well in a group setting with collogues and independently.
Must have effective communication skills, as you will be regularly interacting with current and past guests, co-workers, community members and other providers. On occasion will be required to contact various emergency services such as the crisis response team, police and paramedics.
Various housekeeping duties required.
Process donations with the ability to lift 20 lbs.
Qualifications/Education High school or equivalent (required) Driver's License and vehicle (required)
