The oldest photography bookstore in the US is looking for a manager to join our team. Established 40 years ago, photo-eye specializes in bringing new, rare, and out-of-print fine art photography books from all over the world to our local, national, and international clientele.

This is a full-time position for a career-minded individual, generally 9:30 am to 5:30 pm, Tuesday through Saturday, in our Santa Fe bookstore. Occasional evening hours for special events may be required as needed.

A two-year commitment is required.

The bookstore manager performs and provides general oversight over all aspects of our retail book operations (predominantly online, but in-store too) and leads a three-person team to provide:

A well-researched and curated photobook inventory

Robust sales and marketing strategies

Judicious purchasing decisions

Efficient order fulfillment

Accurate inventory management

Superb customer service to institutions and individual collectors

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

Precise attention to detail and accuracy

Diligent follow-up on multiple, ongoing projects

Ability to multitask and prioritize in a fast-paced environment

Proven problem-solving and logistics skills

Excellent oral and written communication, spelling, punctuation, and grammar

Superb computer and typing skills (touch-typist preferred)

Mathematical acumen for pricing, currency conversions, discounts

Proficiency on Windows PC with MS Office (Outlook, Word, Excel), and Skype

Dedication to providing outstanding customer service

Personable and outgoing for interaction with clients

Enjoy speaking and selling to clients on the phone

Comfortable spending most of the day using a computer

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

High-end retail experience, ideally on a managerial level

Bachelor's degree or higher

Knowledge of fine art photography, art/photo history, photobooks, and/or publishing

Editing & proofreading experience

Familiarity with MailChimp or similar email or social media marketing

Basic knowledge of HTML and CSS
