We are looking for a motivated and reliable apprentice to join CH Metalwork. This role is designed for individuals interested in learning the craft of metal fabrication and welding while working alongside the business owner. Welding skills are a plus, but not required for an apprenticeship position. A job application is required for consideration. You can collect this on-site, or it can be emailed to you.
What You’ll Do (and Learn):
+ Assist in the fabrication of custom products including stair railings, staircases, gates, entry doors, unique one-off projects, and structural steel
+ Train in stick and MIG welding (TIG experience or interest in learning is a plus)
+ Learn to read and interpret architectural and shop drawings
+ Must know how to use and read a tape measure for accurate measuring and layout skills
+ Follow safety protocols in both the shop and on job sites
+ Support the installation of finished products at homes and job sites
+ Keep a daily logbook of tasks and hours worked
What We’re Looking For:
+ Interest in hands-on learning of welding and metal fabrication
+ Some exposure to tools, construction, or mechanical work is valuable
+ Willingness to work in a physically demanding environment
+ Punctual, responsible, and eager to learn
+ Must have a valid driver’s license
Details:
+ Hours: 8:00 am – 4:00 pm, Monday–Friday with a 30-minute unpaid lunch (approx. 37.5 work week)
+ Work location: Primarily fabrication shop and on job sites (private homes, etc.)
+ Reporting office: Second Street area
+ No smoking permitted
