Help Wanted – Custom Frame Shop Positions (Santa Fe)
Justin’s Frame Designs is hiring for two hands-on positions in our busy custom framing shop. We specialize in high-end, handcrafted frames for artists, galleries, and collectors. Our shop moves fast, with tight deadlines and a focus on precision and creativity.
1. Wood Room Position
A production woodworking role in a high-volume, detail-driven shop
Responsibilities include:
Milling and shaping frame stock using table saws, planers, and routers
Cutting, joining, and sanding custom wood frames
Managing inventory of wood stock, supplies, and materials
Maintaining precision and organization under pressure
Learning and following our established methods and craftsmanship standards
Must take instructions and learn our way of doing things
Ideal candidate: Comfortable using woodworking tools, efficient, and eager to learn the JFD way — balancing craftsmanship, creativity, and teamwork.
2. Gilding Prep / Wood Finishing (Cross-Trained Role)
This position bridges gilding prep and wood room assistance.
Responsibilities include:
Sanding and prepping frames for finishing
Applying gesso, clay, and other base layers for gilding
Assisting with carving and decorative detailing
Learning hand-applied wood finish techniques unique to JFD
Assisting with joining and light woodworking tasks
Supporting the team during high-production periods
Must take instructions and learn our way of doing things
Ideal candidate: Detail-oriented, patient, and interested in learning the fine art of gilding, carving, and finishing. Experience with hand tools or finishes is helpful but not required — training provided for the right person.
Schedule & Details:
Tuesday through Friday, 9:00 AM – 5:00 PM (4 day work week)
Occasional Monday–Friday weeks during busy times
Pay based on experience and skill
