Established excavation company seeking experienced operators for the 2024 season. The operator will be responsible for the safe operation of equipment, be able to cut in a new driveway from scratch, fix and repair driveways, install culverts and other drainage work, trench for utilities and footers, any and all projects related to excavation. Other responsibilities include using a transit for elevations, reading plans, conducting minor maintenance, i.e. greasing, minor repairs and general upkeep of equipment.
The operator must have sufficient knowledge and expertise with the various types of equipment and their operation, to include backhoes, mini-excavators, skidsteers, rollers, loaders and motor graders. The operator does not need to have complete knowledge of every piece of equipment, but does need a good working knowledge of most.
Essential job functions:
1. Operate job site equipment safely
2. Perform service, safety checks and minor repairs on machinery
3. Inspect the work area to assure utilities have been located prior to digging and assure that hand digging is completed so the utility location is found and won’t be damaged
4. Assist the maintenance crew or assist a laborer when not operating equipment
5. Be willing to train, guide and oversee work for lower-grade operators and laborers when needed
6. Comply with all safety procedures and work practices according to company guidelines
7. Load, properly secure, and haul equipment behind a truck in a safe, accident-free manner, to include proper brake adjustment for a loaded vs an empty trailer.
8. Work with others to actively improve operations, decrease turnaround times, streamline work processes and work well and cooperate with others to provide professional quality customer service with quality timelines.
9. Perform other duties as required or assigned.
If an operator has a CDL Class A license, there will be extra pay, depending on experience. Must have the proper proof and medical card for a CDL.
