JFD (www.santafeframing.com), a specialized custom framing company in Santa Fe, is seeking creative, detail-oriented individuals to join our team. This is an opportunity to work in a dynamic, artistic environment where your skills and creativity contribute to crafting one-of-a-kind pieces for artists, collectors, galleries, and designers.
No prior experience in framing? No problem! We’ll train the right individuals who bring enthusiasm, a strong work ethic, and a willingness to learn.
Position 1: Matting & Fitting Specialist
This role is perfect for someone with an eye for detail and a passion for preserving and presenting artwork beautifully.
Key responsibilities include:
Collaborating on the creative presentation of artwork by selecting and cutting mats that enhance the piece.
Fitting various types of art into custom frames with precision and care.
Creating handmade fabric mounts and stretching canvases.
Experimenting with hot and cold mounting techniques to preserve artwork.
Packing and preparing finished works for shipping to clients.
Managing workflow and maintaining inventory in a collaborative team setting.
Position 2: Woodworking & Custom Frame Production
This role is ideal for those who love working with their hands and transforming raw materials into beautiful, functional art.

Key tasks include:
Crafting custom wood frames from start to finish, ensuring each piece complements the artwork it will hold.
Learning and perfecting woodworking techniques such as chopping, joining, and sanding frames.
Safely using tools like table saws, routers, and miter saws to create intricate frame designs.
Shaping wood from 2D renderings, turning concepts into reality.
Contributing to the artistic process by understanding and executing custom frame designs.
Keeping tools in top condition and maintaining a clean, organized workspace.
