Functions of the position:
1. Creativity and Design Aesthetics:
Floral designers must possess a strong sense of creativity and design aesthetics
Ability to create unique and visually appealing arrangements
Creation of reproducible arrangements in the style and trend consistent with the business model
Work with event coordinators to plan and design various sizes and types of arrangements for off-site events
Design seasonally appropriate arrangements
2. Customer Interaction:
Assist customers in selecting appropriate flower arrangements, bouquets, and other floral products.
Offer expert advice on flower choices, colors, and arrangements based on customers' preferences and occasions.
Answer customer inquiries either directly or through the communicate with Sale Associate
3. Order Management:
Arrange customer orders, ensuring accuracy in product selection, quantities, and custom details as requested by the customer
Consistently reproduce standard arrangements based on recipes.
Coordinate with the floral design team to fulfill custom orders and special requests.
Track order status and provide updates to customers on delivery timelines as needed
Pull and reserve inventory for custom orders, special orders, and other orders as needed
4. Floral Knowledge and Arrangements:
Maintain a deep understanding of different flower types, their seasonal availability, and care instructions.
Create and assemble floral arrangements and wrapped bouquets according to established guidelines and customer requests.
Ensure that all arrangements are well-presented, fresh, and visually appealing.
5. Inventory Management:
Monitor inventory and track what needs re-ordering
Manage inventory by ordering and stocking fresh flowers, disposing of expired product and logging waste
Assist in evaluating stock of hard goods, including floral accessories, vases, plants, delivery supplies, etc., alerting Manager or ordering directly
Must ensure that the shop has a variety of materials to create different arrangements
6. Customer Feedback and Issue Resolution:
Gather feedback from customers to gauge their satisfaction and identify areas for improvement.
Address customer concerns, complaints, or issues promptly and professionally, aiming for effective resolution.
7. Inventory Management:
Monitor inventory levels of flowers, vases, and other floral accessories.
Assist in placing orders for new inventory and restocking supplies as needed.
Monitor inventory condition replace fresh water and flower preservative as needed, and dispose of unusable products
8. Administrative Tasks:
Maintain accurate records of sales, orders, funeral home notes, gift certificates, customer credits, holiday/seasonal notes, orders on hold, donations, and customer interactions.
Generate and process invoices, receipts, and related paperwork.
Assist in keeping the shop's schedule organized and appointments well-managed.
Manage house accounts and bill customers monthly
Qualifications:
High school diploma or equivalent
Previous experience in a floral design role, with the ability to work at an efficient pace
Strong interpersonal and communication skills, with a friendly and approachable demeanor
Knowledge of flower varieties and their characteristics
Ability to multitask, stay organized, and work efficiently in a fast-paced environment
Proficiency in costing arrangements based on wholesale prices and the standard procedures of the business
Physical ability to stand for extended periods, lift and carry floral arrangements, and perform tasks related to floral preparation
Must be able to lift at least thirty pounds from ground to shelving above the head
Working Conditions: The role involves working in a floral shop environment, which may include exposure to certain degrees of temperature and moisture, various scents, pollen, and physical activities related to floral preparation. The position may require flexibility in working hours, including weekends and holidays, especially during peak floral seasons and special occasions.
