Ranch caretaker sought for live-work arrangement, Santa Fe County.
Free place to live in exchange for part-time work.
Live rent-free in a private, modern, clean, fully-equipped 24-foot travel trailer on a small ranch in Santa Fe County. Wooded, private, serene setting, 25 minutes from Santa Fe.
In exchange, caretaker will provide 60-70 hours monthly of service (about 18 hours a week) - maintenance, improvements, and repairs of the main house, outdoor spaces, casita, barn, shed, grounds, corral fencing, chicken coop, and other outbuildings. Some weekly ranch animal care. Equine experience is greatly preferred. A love of animals and respectful and loving treatment of animals is a must. Full time indoor/outdoor animal care while owners are occasionally out of town. Experience and skill with all aspects of building repair, maintenance, and construction is necessary.
Work schedule negotiable with two days off weekly. Vacations shall be approved in advance, with 4 weeks off yearly and 4 4-day weekends, hours made up in advance or pay rent for time away. Must be able to work outdoors during all seasons. Must be physically fit, able to lift 65 lbs, and able to work outdoors during all seasons.
There will be no rental monies paid by caretaker, however, there is a $500 deposit on the living unit.
Electricity, WiFi, propane, and septic tank upkeep will be paid by caretaker. Water is free, however, it will be caretakers’ responsibility to run water from main house (well) to fill water storage tank at trailer. We have a trash collection service at no charge for ranch caretaker.
A reliable 4WD is needed as this property is in a mountainous area in Santa Fe County.
Application, screening, background, credit, reference checks, and interviews will be extensive and will take at least two weeks. Approval will take time. Once approved, arrangements and lease will be month-to-month until owner is satisfied with: caretaker accountability, reliability, consistency, skills with repairs/upkeep/improvements, follow through, initiative, character, tidiness and organization, trustworthiness, pleasant personality, and ability to work independently with little supervision.
