Two years of this experience must include the management of organized staff units, including the administration and supervision of staff engaged in the development or evaluation of the management, operations, or safety and security programs of correctional systems. Duties Description Under the general direction of the Director of Operations, the Assistant Director of Operations is the first-line manager of the Commission’s Bureau of Field Operations. The incumbent will be responsible for directing and supervising the activities of the Correctional Facility Specialists 3, the line supervisors of the Commission’s geographically deployed field units. The incumbent also sets the Bureau of Field Operations’ timetables for the completion of work; assigns staff to the various field units in the Bureau; approves, adjusts and oversees completion of the Bureau’s monthly, quarterly and annual work plan; interprets, applies and executes agency policy with regard to agency field evaluation, field investigation and executive oversight; and reviews, revises and approves all written Bureau of Field Operations correspondence and reports. Additionally, the incumbent oversees, maintains, and coordinates the agency’s management information system, including the agency’s automated Jails Daily Population Reporting System, the automated assignment tracking and staff performance monitoring system and the Commission’s incident reporting and monitoring system; prepares the agency’s mandated reports, including the Annual Report, as well as statistical reports on the work of the agency and the state of the correctional system. The incumbent plans and administers the monthly senior staff (supervisors) meeting; oversees and facilitates the functions of the Commission’s two advisory boards: the Citizen’s Policy and Complaint Review Council and the Medical Review Board; and attends all meetings of the Commission and provides technical assistance to the Commissioners therein. The incumbent also represents the Director of Operations in the Director’s absence. Additional Comments Approximately 20% travel is required.
