Lead Manufacturing Energy Technical Assistance SpecialistReston, VA (or remote)Want to provide technical assistance in support of energy and climate programs, and engage with government, manufacturers, communities to save energy and reduce greenhouse gas emissions? ICF is seeking a detail-oriented, self-motivated candidate to help federal government clients implement and evolve their energy efficiency, decarbonization, and sustainability programs. This position will be based in our Reston, VA headquarters office in a hybrid work environment or can be remotely based, at the discretion of the hiring manager. Successful candidates will support the management and implementation of high-profile public-private partnership programs to drive energy efficiency and emissions reductions across the industrial sectorWhat you will be doing . . .

Assisting U.S. government clients in clean energy program planning / design, program administration, and engagement / outreach to key stakeholders (e.g., small and medium manufacturers, service providers, utilities, community organizations, local/tribal/state governments).

Assisting in the development of local, regional, and national clean energy strategies and increase participation in voluntary energy and decarbonization programs focused on the industrial and buildings sectors.

Providing technical assistance to small and medium manufacturing facilities on topics include regulatory support, developing a community benefits plan, labor and workforce development, innovation assessments, and identification of energy savings opportunities.

Providing manufacturing analysis and planning activities to support small and medium manufacturers with their clean energy manufacturing planning and ensure integration into the economic development plans of their communities.

What you need to have . . .

Bachelor’s degree in a related discipline (e.g., engineering, environmental studies, science, economics).

10 years of relevant experience working in manufacturing facilities and/or in support of U.S. government energy programs.

Preferred Skills/Experience…

Master’s degree in a related discipline (e.g., environmental studies, public policy, science, engineering, economics, business).

Experience living or working in coal communities.

Experience with client-facing consulting roles.

Experience engaging and communicating with internal and external program stakeholder groups, including understanding stakeholder group needs, priorities, and issues.

Experience working with U.S. federal government agencies and programs such as the EPA ENERGY STAR® program, U.S. Department of Energy programs, and/or other prominent energy efficiency programs.

Experience engaging directly with manufacturers on sustainability issues.

Experience with energy modeling.

Experience developing manufacturing sector focused techno-economic analyses.

Experience in energy and emissions analysis.

Familiarity with the development/delivery of public-private voluntary partnership programs.

Passion for sustainability and clean energy.

High level of self-motivation and interest in support of U.S. government energy programs.

Strong communication skills (oral, interpersonal, and written).

Team player with strong ability to work collaboratively with others.

Highly organized, proactive, and self-motivated approach to work.

Proficiency in core computer skills, including key Microsoft applications such as Word, Outlook, Teams, SharePoint, Excel, and OneNote).

Ability to prioritize and multi-task, and work under strict deadlines.

Excellent project and program management skills.

Ability to balance respect, inclusion, decisiveness, and tenacity.

Ability and interest to learn and adapt in a dynamic environment.
