We empower our teams to put science into meaningful action and give our R&D colleagues the autonomy, resources and tools they need to take science a step beyond.How will you make an impact?This Sr. Manager role will have Portfolio as well as Program Management responsibilities and be part of the BCD R&D Leadership Team.In addition to facilitating strategy development, monthly portfolio reviews, project prioritization and Product Approval Committee (PAC) meetings, role responsibilities include ensuring development teams follow Thermo Fisher Scientific’s stage gate Product Commercialization Process (PCP) and project/product management best practices.What will you do?Contribute to establishment of a common set of practices, tools, and templates for portfolio, program, and project level management and ensure standards are followed across the division.
Effectively use metrics and data visualization to report progress and support data driven decision making at all levels of the organization.
Collect and analyze portfolio data to facilitate resource planning and project prioritization across the portfolio.
Lead staff through organizational change, drive engagement and creating a climate where your team is motivated to do their best.
Mentor in project and portfolio management; provide training to your team, departments and PAC as needed.
Hold team members accountable for on-time execution, escalate issues when necessary to provide needed support.
Assist in identifying and initiating strategic industrial and academic partnerships and represent the group in those projects.
How will you get here?Education/ ExperienceBachelor's degree in scientific discipline (biochemistry, chemical engineering, biotechnology, biology or chemistry).
10 years of experience managing projects of varying size and complexity
Outstanding organizational, planning, process development, communication, analytical, and interpersonal skills
Ability to organize and disseminate information efficiently and convey expectations of accountability.
Proven record of developing self and team
Proficient in working with MS Excel, MS Project, MS Word, MS Power Point
Proven people leadership experience preferred
Experience leading complex projects across multiple sites preferred
2+ years of experience in a biological science, particularly experience with cell culture or cell therapy preferred
PMP certification preferred
