We’re a growing property management company working throughout Albany, Troy, Schenectady, and surrounding areas. As we expand our rental portfolio, we’re looking to bring on skilled and reliable maintenance techs to help us handle day-to-day work in the field. This is a great fit for someone who’s experienced in general home repairs, communicates well, and can manage their own time without supervision.
You’ll be responsible for scheduling your own day and handling assigned maintenance requests in occupied and vacant rental units. You’ll receive work orders through our app and are expected to complete what you can, report what you can’t, and keep us updated with clear notes and photos. You are not expected to know how to do everything or perform licensed plumbing or electrical work. What we need is someone who can walk into a situation, figure out what’s going on, and help us understand what it’ll take to resolve it. That might mean fixing it, recommending materials, or escalating it to a specialist.
This is a field-based role with limited oversight. It’s best suited for someone who is self-directed, dependable, and comfortable working on their own. Professionalism matters — you’ll be working in tenant-occupied units, so you must show up on time, be appropriate and respectful, and represent the company well. Most tenants are great, and when they’re not, the office will step in to handle it. We do require a background check before hire, and we do not accept applicants with any history of theft, fraud, or violent crimes. You must have general construction or maintenance experience, a valid driver’s license, your own vehicle, your own basic tools, and at least one positive reference.
Per NYS law and our insurance provider, all maintenance techs must carry general liability insurance and either carry workers’ compensation or complete a free waiver of exemption. This must be in place before you start. We’re happy to help you apply, work with your insurance agent, or walk you through the waiver process. Depending on your availability, consistency, and how much work you take on, we may pay part or all of your insurance cost. The same goes for the monthly gas stipend (up to $100/month) — it’s based on how reliably you’re taking work and staying available.
This role pays hourly based on experience and offers flexibility in scheduling. Part-time and full-time availability are both welcome. If you’re interested in growth or leadership opportunities, that’s available. If you just want consistent, independent work in the field, that works too.
To apply, send your name, general location, a brief summary of your experience, and the types of repairs you’re most confident with. Let us know your availability and confirm that you meet the basic requirements above.
