This Assistant Controller position is a long-term contract / contract to permanent employment opportunity and is based in Bronx, New York.How you will make an impact
Ensure account reconciliations/analyses for balance sheet and income statement accounts are properly prepared and maintained
Complete financial statements and closes on a month-end, quarter-end, and year-end basis
Take on coordination and leadership over external financial audits
This position may also require participation in impromptu analyses/projects, system improvements, and special projects as assigned
Drive the monthly financial executive package and control book to include budget to actual comparisons by department
Assist in developing the accounting team, which includes staffing, performance management, and training
Oversee treasure functions to ensure timely payment for vendors and maintain accuracy of cash forecasts
Ensure policies for reporting and accounting are properly upheld
Supply external monthly and quarterly reporting packages to Board meeting decks
Provide support to the Company through external reporting and technical accounting GAAP mentorship Requirements - Excellent verbal, written, and social communication skills
Extraordinary analytical, quantitative and social skills
Ability and willingness to meet business critical deadlines
Prior industry experience
Self-driven motivator who takes initiative on projects with a strong ability to understand and solve creative challenges
Ability to handle multiple tasks to prioritize needs and expedite tasks upon request
Bachelor degree in Accounting
Financial reporting experience preferred
Comprehensive knowledge of FUND E-Z
Deep technical background in public accounting (GAAP)
Be detailed, flexible, and organized
SOX internal control assessments (Section 404) experience
Awareness of upcoming tasks, ability to anticipate needs and pre-plan work
Relevant industry experience (preferred)
Experience with higher level functionality in Microsoft Excel
