HOUSING SPECIALIST We are excited to invite a passionate and experienced Housing Specialist to join our team! Homes for the Homeless is searching for an experienced Housing Specialist for our Families w/ Children facility located in the Soundview area of the Bronx. As the Housing Specialist you will play a pivotal role in our organization, assisting families with creating an exit strategy and in searching for permanent housing. Join us and be a part of an organization that values your contribution and cares deeply for the community we serve. ABOUT HOMES FOR THE HOMELESS, INC. Homes for the Homeless, Inc. (HFH) is a non-profit social services organization operating family shelters throughout NYC that serve as a hub of opportunity for families residing in the shelter and those in the neighboring community. On-site programs range from childcare, early childhood education centers, after-school clubs and programs, and youth recreation activities, such as sports teams, to housing assistance, case management, parenting workshops, career and job vocational training, support groups and substance abuse assistance, and family engagement and recreation events for the whole family. ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Manage a caseload.
Conduct housing intakes.
Create an exit strategy by exploring the client's needs.
Complete housing reports and maintain up-to-date progress notes.
Meet weekly, monthly, and quarterly move-out targets.
Conducts monthly housing workshops with clients.
Provide clients with housing referrals and leads.
Develop and maintain positive working relationships with DHS staff.
Develop and cultivate relationships with brokers, agents, landlords, and community agencies to gain housing leads.
Schedule appointments for apartment viewings.
Accompany clients to open houses, apartment viewings, and lease signings.
QUALIFICATIONS
Bachelor's Degree or Associates Degree
At least one year of relevant experience.
Experience working with brokers and landlords.
Ability to travel by public transportation to all 5 boroughs and outside of NYC.
Bi-lingual is a plus.
