Staff Accountant

Description We are currently offering a short term contract employment opportunity for a Staff Accountant in Bronx, New York. This role is within the non-profit industry and will involve general accounting duties with a focus on intercompany transactions. The successful candidate will be instrumental in preparing for audits, analyzing financial statements, and assisting with accounts payable.Responsibilities include: Processing intercompany transactions as part of regular accounting duties Preparing for upcoming audits by reconciling accounts and ensuring accuracy of financial records Analyzing financial statements to understand the organization's financial position Assisting in maintaining the balance sheet by updating records as needed Supporting the controller in managing accounts payable activities Handling accounts payable and other ad hoc accounting duties Conducting bank reconciliations to verify accuracy of transactions Creating and maintaining journal entries for financial transactions Ensuring accuracy in accruals to reflect the organization's financial commitments Utilizing skills in Excel formulas, QuickBooks, Oracle, and other accounting software to perform duties effectively. Requirements Proficiency in Accounts Payable (AP) and Accounts Receivable (AR) Experience with Bank Reconciliations Familiarity with General Ledger management Ability to process Journal Entries Experience with Month End Close procedures Knowledge of NetSuite, Oracle, QuickBooks, and SAP platforms Ability to handle Payable Invoices and Weekly Account Payable tasks Proficiency in Excel Formulas Experience with Balance Sheet Reconciliation Ability to conduct Monthly Bank Reconciliation Bachelor's degree in Accounting or a related field Minimum of 2-3 years of experience in a similar role Strong analytical and problem-solving skills Excellent written and verbal communication skills Ability to work independently and as part of a team Ability to manage multiple tasks and meet deadlines Strong attention to detail and accuracy Experience working in the non-profit sector is a plus.
