Description We are seeking a VP/Director of Finance in Bronx, New York. The job function involves overseeing all financial operations, budgeting and forecasting, external reporting, and providing support to other team members. The industry of operation is education, specifically within a charter school environment. Responsibilities include: Collaborating with the senior leadership team to identify strategic priorities and construct budgets that support these priorities. Generating accurate financial forecasts and budgets on a regular basis. Developing analytic tools to examine revenue and expense trends and patterns to inform key decisions by the senior leadership team. Researching, developing, and implementing systems and processes for causal analysis and dissecting budget variances. Evaluating monthly financial results and proactively communicating with relevant senior leaders. Collaborating with the senior leadership team to develop and regularly examine division budgets and spending trends. Overseeing financial procedures and policies, and evolving financial processes. Leading the annual audit process. Ensuring timely account reconciliations, including accounts receivable and payables. Overseeing the annual job offer process in partnership with Human Resources. Analyzing and approving financial statements. Creating a monthly reporting package for the Board of Trustees. Preparing and overseeing all aspects of financial compliance, including all external reporting. Collaborating with the Director of Development and others to prepare fiscal grant management reporting. Working with auditors to prepare tax filings. Requirements Proven experience in a similar role, such as VP or Director of Finance. Comprehensive understanding of Accounting Functions, including Accounts Payable (AP) and Auditing. Ability to manage an Annual Budget and oversee Budget Processes. Proficiency in FUND E-Z software. Experience in Grant Management. Strong leadership and strategic planning skills. Excellent communication and interpersonal abilities. Analytical mind with a problem-solving aptitude. BSc/BA in Accounting, Finance or relevant field; MSc/MA is a plus. Relevant detail oriented certification (e.g. CFA/CPA) is a plus.
