Description Robert Half is looking for an efficient Full Charge Bookkeeper to take on an exciting job opportunity in the Non-Profit industry. If you excel at multitasking, communication, organization, and time management, this opportunity with the potential for growth could be for you. In this position, you will prepare financial statements; establish and maintain the accounting principles, practices, procedures, and initiatives of the organization; and handle all other general accounting and bookkeeping functions. This long-term contract / temporary Full Charge Bookkeeper opportunity is based in Brooklyn, New York.Your responsibilities in this role

Preparing the trial balance and financial statements, including balance sheet and statements regarding income and cash flows

Reconciling bank and general ledgers, and processing payroll

Tracking fixed assets and constructing depreciation schedules

Handling monthly, quarterly and year end close, accurately and on time

Maintaining knowledge of current federal, state, and local legal requirements, ensuring adherence to them, filing reports, and communicating with management on needed actions

Carefully filing documents to preserve historical records

Processing accounts payable and accounts receivable; handling collections as needed

Overseeing work of accounting clerks and entry-level bookkeepers Requirements - Experience with payroll preferred

Aptitude for analyzing financial data and generating accurate reports in a timely manner

High school diploma or equivalent required, and AA degree or higher in Accounting or Business preferred

A thorough knowledge of accrual and cash basis of accounting

Able to work independently with a minimal amount of oversight

Be creative, adaptive, and eager to learn new technical skill sets

Strong organization skills

Solid understanding of FUND E-Z

Earlier work involving Excel, Quickbooks, and Peachtree

Ability to multitask and communicate effectively with individuals of all backgrounds

3+ years of bookkeeping experience
