New Era’s Merchandising team lives within the Licensed Sports Business Unit and develops product assortments per our Licensed Sports business plans. The Merchandising team is responsible for the complete execution and go-to-market process of all Program, Custom and Stock headwear. The Merchandising team has the foremost understanding of all New Era headwear product types and systematic processes, while providing critical analytical input to ensure accurate product lines and consumer experiences. The role of Assistant Manager, Merchandising is to assist in the development and creation of compelling product solutions and work cross-departmentally to coordinate all Merchandising efforts. This specific role will work with the majority of our co-brand partners to communicate calendars, dates, deliverables, and overall project updates, while simultaneously executing internal tasks that each project requires. Responsibilities
Communicate externally with wide variety of co-brand partners including major global fashion brands, lifestyle retailers and energy boutiques
Work collaboratively with the License Management teams to facilitate Legal and License product approvals for co-brand projects
Quarterback all actions and tasks with Design, Design Ops, Planning and Production for each co-brand initiative to ensure accurate and timely execution
Execute Merchandising processes and communications
Develop and own organizational tools for product launch initiatives
Develop and lead Merchandising communication between Licensed Sports Management group as it relates to product creation processes
Contribute to departmental ownership of product reviews and line adoptions with marketplace insights, historical data and creative opinions in order to provide optimal product assortments
Create analytical reports and extract appropriate trends and insights for future launches in terms of style productivity, SKU efficiency, etc.
Work collaboratively with the Design and Sourcing teams to construct product assortments and develop appropriate sales assets that facilitate sell-in
Input bulk program information to data collection systems
Engage global product teams to communicate strategies, assortments, updates, etc.
Manage product execution for strategic key accounts, collaboration partners and brand/retailer relationships
Lead, coach and develop direct reports
Contribute to go-to-market calendar development
Keeps sensitive information confidential
Other duties as assigned
Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities
Strong understanding of licensed sports marketplace and consumer and is capable of transforming those insights into action
Applies knowledge and skill in product development process
Ability to build relationships at multiple levels
Exhibits attention to detail and accuracy, as well as very strong organizational skills
Identifies gaps and recommends additions to current product assortments
Pro-actively manages change with urgency and persistence
Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint). Experience with SAP and PLM preferred
Education / Experience
Bachelor’s degree in Product Development, Management, Planning or related field required. Additional experience will be considered in lieu of degree
Three (3) to Five (5) years of experience in Product Development or Product Management required.
Knowledge of sportswear or apparel industry preferred.
