Job Overview:
We are seeking a passionate and skilled Cook to join our small, dynamic team at Josie's Coffee Shoppe in Saugerties. The ideal candidate will have a love for cooking, an eye for detail, and the ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced environment. You will be responsible for preparing and cooking a variety of dishes to ensure our customers have an exceptional dining experience.
Key Responsibilities:
Food Preparation & Cooking: Prepare and cook food items according to the café's menu, ensuring consistency, quality, and presentation.
Ingredient Management: Maintain an organized inventory of ingredients, ensuring the kitchen is well-stocked and minimizing food waste.
Menu Development: Work with the café team to create new dishes or update seasonal offerings, considering customer preferences and dietary restrictions.
Health & Safety Standards: Follow all food safety guidelines and health regulations to ensure a safe and clean work environment.
Customer Service: Assist with any special requests or dietary needs and collaborate with front-of-house staff to ensure a smooth service.
Cleaning & Maintenance: Clean and sanitize kitchen equipment, utensils, and workstations as required, adhering to health and safety standards.
Team Collaboration: Work closely with other staff and the café manager to ensure smooth operations during peak hours.
Qualifications:
Previous experience in a similar role, preferably in a café or small restaurant setting.
Passion for cooking and creating delicious, high-quality food.
Ability to work efficiently under pressure and handle multiple tasks simultaneously.
Strong understanding of food safety standards and cleanliness practices.
Ability to work well both independently and as part of a team.
Flexibility with hours, including weekends and holidays, as needed.
Physical Requirements:
Ability to stand for long periods.
Ability to lift up to 30 lbs.
Comfort working in a busy, fast-paced environment.
