The Real Estate Risk Sr Officer I is a strategic professional who manages Portfolio Management related activities for the Banking and International Risk - Leveraged Finance, Real Estate & Structured Credit group. Real Estate Risk Management is responsible for overseeing risks taken in connection with real estate activities which includes extensions of credit that are secured by liens on or interests in real estate, direct and indirect private equity and public market real estate investments, capital markets, construction lending, servicing, commercial loan undertaken when real estate security or real estate activity, or an asset sale, or a refinancing is contemplated as a first or second way out. Developed communication and diplomacy skills are required in order to guide, influence and convince others, in particular colleagues in other areas including internal/external audit and regulators. Provides advice and counsel related to the technology or operations of the business. Work impacts an entire area, which eventually affects the overall performance and effectiveness of the sub-function/job family.The Portfolio Management team within Leveraged Finance, Real Estate & Structured Credit is responsible for Portfolio and Limit Management, Stress Testing, Concentration Risk, and Climate Risk. Responsibilities of the team can vary depending on internal and external demands. The role is intended to be flexible and support multiple areas. This position will also support additional portfolios including Leveraged Finance, Securitizations and Structured Credit as required.Responsibilities:Portfolio and Limit Management
Understand the exposure and portfolio characteristics of the Real Estate portfolio to identify key underlying risk drivers, including internal drivers across the various portfolios as well as external drivers across the industry
Prepare regular and time-sensitive analytics, visualizations and reports to the risk managers, senior management and the Board with close collaboration with risk managers/subject matter experts
Leverage technical expertise to execute quantitative analyses that translates into actionable insights for management
Operate under tight timelines to comply with internal and regulatory prescribed deadlines
Ensure data integrity, accuracy and timeliness in all reporting and presentations
Project management for complex initiatives across the Real Estate Risk organization including defining scope, initial planning, dependency identification/management, risk/issue management, implementation execution and executive status reporting
Partner with Technology to design strategies for an automated solution to ensure complete, correct, and timely reporting
Significant Tableau based data analysis
Stress Testing
Develop an end-to-end stress testing program across Wholesale Credit, Retail and Trading, including stress testing governance, scenario design, model development, reporting and limit monitoring
Support all CCAR stress testing for Commercial Real Estate
Performing creditable review and challenge for stress testing workstreams across methodology, results, governance, and processes
Analyze macroeconomic variables and understand the impact to financial projections
Drive process improvements opportunities and capabilities to increase consistency, transparency, and reliability of stress testing results
Concentration Risk
Implement Enterprise Concentration Risk Management (ECRM) requirements for the Total Real Estate Risk Pool, including Wholesale Credit, Retail and Trading
Annual refresh of Total Real Estate Risk Pool ECRM Limits, Concentration Risk Identification Thresholds (CRITs), and management of Real Estate concentrations via Real Estate Councils
Climate Risk
Develop climate risk management capabilities across Real Estate covering both physical risk and transition risk
Design a climate risk stress testing program, create a risk assessment framework, expand the climate risk data operating model, develop climate crisis management capabilities
Qualifications:
10+ years previous Risk Management experience
5+ years advanced data analysis with Tableau and Python
Analytical and quantitative skills with ability to perform credit analysis
Excellent attention to detail
Strong executive communications including creation of presentation materials
Knowledge of mortgage bankers, REITs, securitizations, warehouse financing and capital markets
Comprehensive understanding of applicable industry regulations and standards
Education:
Bachelor’s/University degree, Master’s degree preferred
