Req Number 124621Job DescriptionCoordinates the daily activities, assignments, and performance of the dental assistants. Maintains and enforces QA/QC for all staff on clinic floor. Administers dental supportive services within scope of NYS RDA Licensure.Job Responsibility1.Prepares operatory prior to examination/treatment by implementing disinfection standards, barrier control guidelines, and setting up instruments consistent with procedure to be performed.2.Assists dentist at chair-side during examination and treatment of patients with suctioning, reflecting tissues, the preparation and handling of dental materials and medicaments, and passing instruments, materials and/or medicaments to dentist as requested.3.Performs dental laboratory procedures including, model pouring and trimming.4.Taking X-rays in accordance with the requirements of section 3515(4)(c) of the Public Health Law.5.Cleans, bags, wraps and sterilizes instruments used. Maintains instrument storage according to guidelines.6.Assists in stocking, and dispensing inventory items, and maintaining the inventory control system.7.Maintains equipment, supplies, and overall clinical facility as outlined in departmental policies and procedures.8.May be responsible for greeting patients as they arrive and scheduling the patient's next appointment before they leave the clinic.9.May participate in training of department's dental assisting students and/or new hires, as directed by management.10.Select and pre-fit provisional dental crowns and orthodontic bands as directed by licensed dentist11.Place and remove intra-oral rubber dams and dental matrix bands as directed by licensed dentist.12.Remove sutures and periodontal dressing applied by a licensed dentist.13.Taking intra-oral impressions and scans for space maintainers, orthodontic appliances, occlusal guards, study casts or diagnostic casts as directed by licensed dentist.14.Place orthodontic ligatures and remove orthodontic arch wires and ligature ties as directed by licensed dentist15.Removing temporary cement from the base of permanent or temporary restorations and appliances as directed by licensed dentist.16.Applying topical anticariogenic agents and desensitizing agents to the teeth as directed by licensed dentist.17.Placing and removing temporary interdental separating devices as directed by licensed dentist.18.May perform additional dental supportive services as authorized by the licensed dentist and within the parameters of the NYS RDA license.Job QualificationHigh School diploma or equivalent required.Current NYS Registered Dental Assistant license required.BLS certified preferred1-3 years of relevant experience, requiredAdditional Salary DetailThe salary range and/or hourly rate listed is a good faith determination of potential base compensation that may be offered to a successful applicant for this position at the time of this job advertisement and may be modified in the future.When determining a team member's base salary and/or rate, several factors may be considered as applicable (e.g., location, specialty, service line, years of relevant experience, education, credentials, negotiated contracts, budget and internal equity).The salary range for this position is $44,450-$69,340/yearIt is Northwell Health’s policy to provide equal employment opportunity and treat all applicants and employees equally regardless of their age, race, creed/religion, color, national origin, immigration status or citizenship status, sexual orientation, military or veteran status, sex/gender, gender identity, gender expression, disability, pregnancy, genetic information or genetic predisposition or carrier status, marital or familial status, partnership status, victim of domestic violence, sexual or other reproductive health decisions, or other characteristics protected by applicable law.
