My friend passed away last month in Mastic and left his house to me in an attorney prepared will signed in 2022. His part time caregiver/housemate got him to sign a will which he wrote leaving everything to him under duress and diminished mental capacity. The 2023 will is otherwise legal with proper witnessing by the caregiver's friends but not notarized.
As his health care proxy, I can tell the story to the judge. I need paralegal help with paperwork etc. I will do as much legal work as I'm allowed including depositions, subpoenas and appearing in court via zoom. Hopefully it will quickly end with a settlement agreement. Otherwise it could go on for years.
This is a matter of doing what is right for my friend while drowning the other side in legal fees. I'm not a lawyer but am good with legal strategies. I just need some help putting together all the pieces.
