- Assist customers in selecting and fitting eyeglasses and contact lenses based on their prescription and personal preferences
- Take accurate measurements of customers' eyes and facial features to ensure proper fit of eyewear
- Educate customers on lens options, coatings, and frames to help them make informed decisions
- Adjust and repair eyewear as needed to ensure comfort and functionality
- Maintain accurate records of customer prescriptions, orders, and payments
- Collaborate with optometrists and ophthalmologists to provide comprehensive eye care services
- Stay up-to-date with the latest trends in eyewear fashion and technology
Skills:
- Strong knowledge of ocular anatomy, physiology, and ophthalmic diseases
- Familiarity with retail math for pricing and inventory management
- Proficiency in using electronic health record systems (e.g., Epic) for managing medical records
- Understanding of medical coding and terminology related to eye care services
- Excellent sales skills to effectively communicate the benefits of different eyewear options
- Ability to perform basic vital signs measurements (e.g., blood pressure)
- Knowledge of medical billing procedures for insurance claims processing
Note: Prior experience as an optician or completion of a formal opticianry program is preferred.
