Req Number 134379Job DescriptionAssists the nursing staff in the performance of technical / laboratory duties exclusively in the Emergency Department.Job Responsibility
Assists nursing staff in the preparation and treatment of patients in the Emergency Department.
Assists Emergency Department staff and triage nurse with various procedures including bleeding control, orthopedics (i.e. crutch set and splinting), suturing, CPR and supplemental oxygen administration (as trained).
Assists with various laboratory functions including transporting patients and specimens to appropriate areas and utilizing and maintaining the ABG/ Glucose analyzer (as trained).
Transports telemetry patients to inpatient units.
Assists Inventory Clerks and Transporters in checking, ordering and/or stocking supplies, testing equipment as well as cleansing and processing used equipment for Central Sterile department.
Documents all procedures performed in the medical record and signs/titles appropriately ensuring all charts are countersigned by a Registered Nurse.

Job Qualification
High School Diploma or equivalent required.
Current Emergency Medical Technician Certification in New York State and Current Basic Life Support/ACLS Professional Certification required, plus specialized certifications as needed.
1-3 years of technical experience, required.
