Learn more about working with ushere (https://www.healthykidsprograms.com/workwithus) .We are currently looking for a Pre-K Teacher for our UPK classroom in Monticello, NY.PAY RATE:$25.00 - $30.00 per hourHOURS:6 hours Monday - FridayDIRECT REPORTS:Teaching AssistantsCALENDAR:Following the Operating School District Calendar- No paid hours in summer.STATUS:Part-time, non-exemptSUMMARY:The Universal Pre-K teacher is responsible for planning, organizing, implementing, coordinating, and controlling services of the UPK program contract, exercising honorable judgment and decision-making as delegated, including following outlined budgets, policies, procedures, and proper staff supervision. Under the supervision of the Healthy Kids UPK Administrative Director, the UPK teacher operates the childcare program in conformance with the Monticello Central School District guidelines and provisions and the Policies of the Healthy Kids Program. Responsibilities include teaching the UPK program, and facilitating, planning, and coordinating the children's educational programs and activities.JOB CONSISTS OF:

Following the Universal Pre-K contract with the Monticello Central School District and adhering to the details of the contract, the Request for Proposal, and our proposal guidelines

Adopting daily routines to meet the interests and needs of the individual child and the group

Developing activities that promote literacy and math concepts – following the Creative Curriculum

Ensure the facility and all the equipment is clean, well-maintained, and safe

Maintaining and scheduling weekly and monthly activities

Participating in ongoing in-service and education development opportunities, and participating in the ongoing development and evaluation of the program’s goals and objectives

Planning and implementing activities that meet the physical, intellectual, emotional, and social needs of the students

Provide a classroom environment that encourages parent participation

Provide adequate equipment and activities

Become an expert with Brightwheel and the services this program offers to families.

Responsibilities will always include but are not limited to:

Ensuring that all children are always supervised

Establishing routines

Building children’s self-esteem through positive guidance and nurturing

Communicating with parents and discussing their children’s development

Implementing positive discipline

Observing children and making notes of progress and development

Promoting literacy and early education

Providing a safe and secure environment where children feel comfortable

Providing age-appropriate experiences and activities for children, including storytelling, games, and songs

Integrating special needs children in a positive, respectful manner

Conduct parent/teacher conferences twice a year for a full-year program and once for a half-year program.

Publish a monthly newsletter to families, maintaining a positive home-school line of communication

Manage all aspects of the Pre-K program with a special focus on

Supervising, professionally developing and training a highly qualified staff to deliver a consistent, high-quality service.

Managing an operation that follows Monticello Central School District policies and procedures

Operating an excellent program that:

Follow a proven success formula is made up of three parts:

Use a well-regarded curriculum: The Creative Curriculum (or district-approved curriculum)

Design the room layout for success using ECERS (Early Childhood Environment Rating Scale)

Create an active learning classroom using the CLASS teacher: student interaction system

Ensure that the program and staff conform to federal, state, and local rules, regulations, and licensing requirements. Adhere to and consistently enforce companies Code of Conduct, Policies & Procedures and New York State Education Regulations.

Maintain accurate records on children enrolled in the program to include their development, attendance, immunization, and general health; maintain appropriate student and staff files.

Prepare reports to Child Protection Services and other agencies to ensure the safety and well-being of all children cared for at the college.

Confer with parents on a regular basis to discuss the development of their enrolled children.

Assist childcare center staff in preparing for and presenting early childhood programs and activities; direct the organization and follow-up of special activities such as off-campus field trips; assist as necessary with the duties of instructional assistants.

Ensure that problems encountered by staff are resolved; assist with altering policies or procedures to ensure smooth operation of the program.

RequirementsQUALIFICATIONS:To be qualified as a Pre-K teacher, a person must possess either: (a) New York State Certification Birth-Grade 2 OR(b) New York State Certification N-6 OR(c) New York State Certification P, K, 1-6 OR(d) Bachelor’s Degree & 5-Year Plan Must also possess:

Excellent customer service and parent communication skills.

Track record of working as a team and helping to create a team-oriented work environment. Commitment to delivering an excellent program and managing personnel expenses.

Must pass full background check including fingerprinting and reference checking

Professional, reliable, and prompt, warm, friendly, caring and upbeat personality.

Excellent time management skills.
