Operations Manager, Tax and Accounting Firm

We are a professional tax preparation firm with more than 800 individual and small business clients. We are expanding our team and need an Operations Manager to oversee the client services and operations of the firm.

This is a hands-on role that requires interaction with clients and staff on behalf of the firm. A retiree or CPA/Accountant returning to the workforce may find this role a good fit. A Fractional COO who works with a limited number of CPA is welcome to apply.

You will report to the Business Owner who leads the strategic growth efforts for the firm and its related companies.

Responsibilities:

Serve as the client services manager, overseeing assignments and delivery of tax preparation services provided by accountants and tax preparers.

Manage HR/Payroll including setting performance targets for the team and ensuring their professional development to perform in their roles

Manage IT/software services

Oversee Marketing, including setting sales targets, managing lead generation, and advertising

Oversee Finance, including new business development efforts and internal bookkeeping

Job Requirements:

5 + years experience in an Administrative or Managerial role at a Tax or Accounting Firm

10+ years in the tax, accounting or professional services

Accountant/CPA/MBA preferred

This is a fully remote role with infrequent meetings in Manhattan. Possible in-office meetings during tax season.

You must be tech-savvy and be familiar with current software and platforms in the industry. The firm uses CCH Axcess tax preparation software and TaxDome for client and workflow management.

Pay: $45.00 - $60.00 per hour

Expected hours: 20hrs per week Monday to Friday.
