Position Overview: We are looking for a dedicated and enthusiastic Daycare Lead Teacher to join our team and provide high-quality early childhood education to our children. The Lead Teacher will create a nurturing and engaging learning environment, develop age-appropriate lesson plans, and support the social, emotional, and intellectual growth of each child.
Key Responsibilities:
- Adhere to the curriculum guidelines for planning monthly, weekly, and daily activities.
- Design both short-term and long-term activities that align with curriculum goals, developmentally appropriate practices, and the program’s philosophy.
- Address the emotional, social, physical, and cognitive needs of each child.
- Encourage assistant teachers to actively participate in curriculum development.
- Organize activities for families and children.
- Prepare monthly planning charts to outline upcoming activities.
- Conduct bi-annual assessments of each child's development.
- Communicate children's progress to parents through bi-annual reports and parent-teacher conferences.
- Maintain open lines of communication with administration on a daily basis.
- Document and keep accident reports accurately.
- Maintain anecdotal and observational records of each child’s progress.
- Uphold confidentiality regarding children and families at all times.
- Report any suspected abuse or neglect to the supervisor immediately.
- Arrange the classroom environment to align with program goals and philosophy.
- Ensure a safe and healthy environment for all children.
- Regularly inspect and replace any damaged or lost materials.
- Participate in in-service training and staff meetings as required.
- Supervise assistants, aides, and volunteers effectively within the classroom.
- Keep accurate records, including attendance and timesheets.
- Comply with all relevant licensing regulations.
Qualifications:
Bachelor’s degree in Early Childhood Education, Child Development, or a related field (or equivalent experience).
New York State Teaching Certification strongly preferred.
Minimum of 2 years of experience in early childhood education, with a strong background in a daycare setting.
Knowledge of child development principles and best practices in early childhood education.
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
Ability to work collaboratively as part of a team.
