Current CPR & First Aide certified (or willing to obtain)
Strong knowledge of child development theories and best practices in early childhood education
Excellent interpersonal, communication, problem solving and organizational skills.
Must have strong decision making skills and maintain a professional attitude and appearance
Familiarity and knowledge of DOH and DOE regulations, licensing requirements, regulations, policies and procedures. (Article 47 provided)
A Child Care Director, or Daycare Director, is responsible for overseeing a daycare facility to ensure that children have a safe and fun environment to learn and socialize with others, providing leadership to their staff, and maintaining a clean facility. Their duties include hiring qualified child care staff, making sure the center has enough toys and supplies, and proactively communicating with parents to accommodate their child’s needs. They train Child Care Workers to make sure the facility and its employees comply with child care laws. Their job is to organize parent contact information, and dietary restrictions or medical conditions for each child. They contact parents when a child becomes ill and collect payment from parents. They may also oversee the implementation of safety measures to promote a safe environment for the children.
