The Society of Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Center–founded in 1946 to raise funds for patient care–is a Volunteer Board of 120 donors dedicated to promoting the well-being of patients, supporting cancer research, and providing public education on the prevention, early detection, and treatment of cancer. The Society of MSK is a part of MSK OneDevelopment.Role Overview: Coordinate and support The Society’s Patient Care Committees including the Dream Team, Children’s Committee, and Volunteer and Patient Recreation Committee. Create and prepare various committee reports for use by Committee Chairpersons at Society Board and Executive Committee meetings. Schedule and facilitate all committee meetings. Oversee budget proposals, track finances, and reconcile expenses for The Society’s Patient Care Committees. Coordinate in-kind solicitations for committee programs and patient care events. Serve as administrative support coordinator on behalf of Society Committee Chairpersons to various donors, i.e. in relationship to sending requests and support proposals, providing appropriate that you letters and acknowledgements, and/or general information. Schedule, plan and supervise important Society patient care events including the Pediatric Prom, Halloween Party, Holiday Celebration and Gift Bag Distribution for Pediatric and Adult Patients, and other miscellaneous patient care events. This committee coordinates donation drives for items such as prom dresses, costumes, and holiday gifts. Responsible for coordinating Dream Team patient “dreams” including making travel arrangements, securing donations and/or sourcing needed goods or services to fulfill dreams, coordinating logistics with the social worker, patients and their families, special celebrities or VIP who may be part of the dream. Coordinate and develop new procedures for the Volunteer & Recreation Committee including providing year-round volunteer opportunities within the hospital, aimed at uplifting the spirits of MSK patients. Support the committee’s several key projects throughout the year including: an activity cart that expands the reach of patients we can service, the holiday gift bag drive, where committee members assist in distributing 450 gift bags to patients receiving treatment during the holidays, holiday decorations, Visible Ink, a writing mentorship program for patients that culminates in an annual anthology and staged reading, and the MSK choir, Rising Voices. Establish and maintain strong cooperative relationships between Society committees and MSK administrators to work together to fulfill mutually set goals. Maintain ongoing communications with The Society and MSK staff while keeping the Director informed as to status of all projects. Responsible for all logistics relating to Administrative Board meetings including coordinating all meeting notices, agendas, presentations, and related materials, as well as arranging for speakers from within MSK and securing the necessary catering and audio-visual equipment. Maintain all records pertaining to Administrative Board attendance, Committee responsibilities, Society tenure and Board related terms of office. Prepare annual mailings to board members and monthly board meeting minutes. Maintain and update Board contact information. Key Qualifications: 1-2 years coordinator experience, non-profit experience a plus. 1-2 donor relations or volunteer management experience. Experience managing data in CRM. Core Skills: Ability to lead many different projects or events independently and concurrently in a fast-paced environment. Exceptional attention to detail, strong organizational and interpersonal skills. Strong time-management skills. Excellent communication skills and the ability to interact across all levels in a confident, professional manner. Diplomacy and discretion as it related to volunteer management. Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite Enthusiasm and dedication to MSK's vision, mission, and values. Additional Information: Location: 633 3rd Avenue, NYC Schedule: Our NYC-based team is hybrid. However, our robust calendar requires frequent in office and onsite presence for both the planning of events and meetings.
