As part of this new operating model, the role of “Data Lead” has been established, responsible for collaborating with Value Stream and technology leadership to establish the data strategy, governance, sourcing, and design for the Value Stream. As Corporate Vice President Business Analyst, reporting directly to the Purchase Experience Data Lead, you will leverage your considerable and diverse skill set to impact data-related decisions that will resonate across the enterprise. You will have an opportunity to define a new way of working, helping to transform NYL into a digitally driven organization.Responsibilities:

Delivery

Orchestrate alignment between Value Stream and technology counterparts to define, analyze, and document data requirements for strategic business initiatives.

Partner with delivery leads and product owners to define scope and prioritization for data deliverables.

Bring new Value Stream data demand into Analytics Intake system and take ownership as delivery lead for demand triage.

Proactively evaluate data needs of Value Stream reporting and analytics teams, with a focus on continuous improvement, and provide recommended solutions.

Develop data pipelines to satisfy reporting and analysis needs, promoting short-term operational efficiency, while evaluating and preparing for a potential longer-term strategic approach.

Provide ongoing support and guidance to business users including training on data consumption best practices and consultation on authoritative data sources.

Strategy

Working with Data Lead, ideate overarching Value Stream data strategy and take ownership of developing and maintaining a comprehensive, integrated roadmap.

Analyze existing data architecture and workflows and create a comprehensive library documenting data products and processes.

Conceptualize future state data architecture and workflows that will integrate with enterprise data strategy.

Champion “shift left” mindset to ensure data needs are considered early in project lifecycles and solutions are structured to accommodate reporting needs and success metrics.

Identify data improvement opportunities, redundancies, and interdependencies across projects and existing processes; provide recommendations for alignment.

Architecture and Governance

Coordinate interactions between delivery teams and AI&D data support functions to ensure the proper application of NYL’s data architecture, governance, and protection standards.

Analyze source systems to understand lineage and help define authoritative sources and systems of record.

Collaborate with Value Stream Information Architect to ensure new data objects and pipelines align with Value Stream and enterprise data structures.

Create and manage a backlog of “tactical” data processes and create a roadmap to migrate to strategic platforms and sources.

Requirements:

Minimum of 10 years hands-on data experience working as business analyst, data analyst, data engineer, or data modeler.

Experience in financial industry a must; Experience in life, health, or P&C insurance is a plus.

Strong programming background (SQL, Python, R, SAS, etc.)

Deep knowledge of relational databases and data pipelines.

Experience constructing data pipelines for applications, reporting, and analytics.

Experience soliciting and documenting requirements for data development projects.

Experience analyzing and documenting existing data processes.

Excellent oral and written communications skills, including the ability to explain technical solutions to a non-technical audience.

Proactive self-starter with the ability to work independently with limited supervision.

Very well-organized and excellent problem-solving skills.

Experience working in Agile software development framework is a plus.

Experience with cloud implementations (AWS, Redshift, Snowflake) is a plus.

This role entails hybrid work, with time split between working in our New York, NY office and flexibility to telecommute from another U.S. location.
