CYBER SECURITY ANALYST

Job DescriptionThe New York City Fire Pension Fund seeks a hands-on Cyber Security Analyst who will be reporting directly to the IT Director or his/her designee. This role involves a range of responsibilities within the field of cybersecurity, including secondary responsibilities as senior desktop support, basic server administration, and web content upkeep. As a Cyber Security Analyst, you will be responsible for triaging, documenting, and investigating cyber events, following cybersecurity policies, conducting audits, and managing risk. Please note that due to the size of the organization, you will be required to handle multiple projects and priorities and be quasi-independent to complete organizational objectives. This is not a position where you have a specific focus. It is a position that has a primary focus with many secondary functions to support the entire agency’s well-being. The environment moves at a brisk pace.The candidate must be able to perform the following tasks:

Install, configure, test, monitor, maintain tools needed for cybersecurity activities.

Update business continuity/disaster recovery plans, including conducting disaster recovery tests, publishing test results and making changes necessary to address deficiencies.

Serve as a liaison and actively follow up with a team of dedicated cybersecurity analysts trained to read and report log activities deemed suspicious as well as those that have reference

configuration postures.

Oversee patching and software upkeep across workstations, servers and network equipment such as switches, voice gateways and routers.

Provide pro-active guidelines we need to follow to avoid business risk.

Maintain security policies and group policies across firewalls and identity assignments.

Use of WordPress and basic content management for our public facing website.

Assist in responding to audit inquiries.

Qualifications

A baccalaureate degree, from an accredited college including or supplemented by twenty-four (24) semester credits in cyber security, network security, computer science, computer programming, computer engineering, information technology, information science, information systems management, network administration, or a pertinent scientific, technical or related area; or

A four-year high school diploma or its equivalent approved by a State’s department of education or a recognized accrediting organization and three years of satisfactory experience in any of the areas described in “1” above; or

Education and/or experience equivalent to “1” or “2”, above. College education may be substituted for up to two years of the required experience in “2” above on the basis that sixty (60) semester credits from an accredited college is equated to one year of experience. In addition, twenty-four (24) credits from an accredited college or graduate school in cyber security, network security, computer science, computer programming, computer engineering, information technology, information science, information systems management, network administration, or a pertinent scientific, technical or related area; or a certificate of at least 625 hours in computer programming from an accredited technical school (post high school), may be substituted for one year of experience.
