Location:227 West Monroe Street - Chicago, Illinois 60606Position SummaryThe open position is for a Municipal Credit Analyst / Desk Analyst, primarily responsible for supporting our Sales, Trading & Underwriting lines of business through timely analysis of credits in the firm's securities inventory and new issue market. The Municipal Analyst will also support the distribution process in partnership with our national sales team.The KeyBanc Capital Markets ("KBCM") Municipal team includes sales, trading, underwriting and public finance functions and is comprised of approximately 75 individuals operating in offices across the country. This position would ideally be based in Chicago, Cleveland, or New York, but flexible options may be available.Key ResponsibilitiesManage municipal research functions including proactive thought leadership and excellent communication with other team members.Monitor and evaluate market, sector and issuer-specific developments.Analyze primary and secondary investment opportunities in assigned sectors and perform active surveillance of prior Issuer clients.Communicate credit views and ideas to Trading & Underwriting Desk and Public FinanceContribute to the timely analysis of investment opportunities, including the development of purchase/sale recommendations and relative value ideas within the firm by keeping abreast of all aspects of the municipal market, including new developments, issuance, and structures.Make buy/sell investment recommendations based on credit views and relative value analysis, including written credit memos for new purchases and annual credit surveillance.Present credit analyses to management credit committee.Assist on an as needed basis in the analysis and presentation of Corporate High Yield New Issues in which Key is involved.Partner as needed with Distribution & Marketing to serve as a subject matter expert and client resource.Required Qualifications2+ years relevant municipal credit analysis experience in support of actively managed taxable and tax-exempt securities.In-depth knowledge of specific municipal sectors: Housing, Higher Ed, Infrastructure Development and/or Healthcare, preferred.Effective motivational leadership skills and ability to flex to meet diverse team needs.Ability to work effectively with others at all levels of the organization.Proficiency in Bloomberg, Excel, Word, and database managementSolid quantitative and analytical skillsStrong organization skillsExcellent oral and written communication skillsCOMPENSATION AND BENEFITSThis position is eligible to earn a base salary in the range of $125,000 - 175,000 annually depending on location and job-related factors such as level of experience. Compensation for this role also includes eligibility for short-term incentive compensation and deferred incentive compensation subject to individual and company performance.
