The Department of General Dentistry & Comprehensive Care at the New York University (NYU) Dentistry seeks applications for a full-time faculty member and department chairperson.NYU Dentistry, one of the most dynamic and robust dental educational and research institutions of higher education in the world, seeks a visionary leader and proven administrator as Chairperson of the Department of General Dentistry & Comprehensive Care. Leading a talented and diverse group of students, faculty and staff, the chairperson will provide the overall vision for the department and will be accountable to fulfill its educational, clinical, research and service missions. The chairperson will have oversight of the department’s pre-doctoral DDS programs, both didactically and clinically. In this role the chairperson will promote excellence in teaching and ensure a high quality of education in the DDS program that accords with contemporary standards in general dentistry education. The chairperson must also be a productive scholar with a demonstrated ability to secure extramural funding to support research and program development initiatives within the department.The chairperson will also have responsibility for the overall administration of the department and will work collaboratively with the dean to expand and improve services to best meet our community’s dental health needs. Salary and academic rank are commensurate with credentials and experience.In compliance with NYC’s Pay Transparency Act, the annual base salary range for the rank of Associate Professor is $135K - $225K & for the rank of Professor is $165K - $265K. Candidates should possess a documented history of significant academic accomplishments in teaching and scholarly activity. Demonstrated evidence of funded research, publications and presentations are preferred. Candidates at the associate professor or professor level will be expected to demonstrate a record of research accomplishments including extramural funding. A history of leadership and administrative experience within a complex organization is requisite. At least five years of administrative and leadership experience in an academic setting is required.
