Licensed Veterinary Technician I - Cornell Ruffian Equine Specialist (Position Located in Elmont, NY)APPLY The Cornell University College of Veterinary Medicine (CVM) seeks a Licensed Veterinary Technician (LVT) to support the Long Island team at Cornell Ruffian Equine Specialists. This LVT will work in an innovative and challenging environment that provides an excellent experience with equine animals in all aspects of emergency and patient care. The LVT will serve as the patient advocate for the owner to assure an optimal experience in all aspects of patient care. The job responsibilities include, but are not limited to: Manage admissions and discharges for CRES, including emergency exams.Monitor and assess conditions of all in-house patients in all wards (ICU and regular wards), administer prescribed medications and regularly scheduled treatments as prescribed.Setup before, assist during, and cleanup after all emergencies including any and all surgical cases.Setup before, assist during, and cleanup after endoscopy, ultrasound, imaging and other equipment needed for medical and surgical procedures.Using good judgment, handle emergency and critical inpatients, call in personnel as needed and support quality patient care in all aspects of hospital operations.Employees working in the hospital must receive the pre-exposure rabies prophylaxis vaccination series prior to or immediately after hire, which will be paid for by the department.Required QualificationsAssociate degrees from an AVMA accredited institution, expected to obtain NYS licensure within 3 months; up to 1 year relevant experience or equivalent combination.New graduates are encouraged to apply.Interest in on-going career growth and advanced skill development.Excellent communication, team building, flexibility and organizational skills essential.Ability to work in an often fast-paced and demanding environment, while paying close attention to details.Ability to work independently as well as part of a team environment.Must be able to lift/move large animals and equipment.Preferred QualificationsProficiency with patient tracking software.Experience with equine patient care and handling a plus.Experience in and/or demonstrated commitment to supporting diversity, equity, access, inclusion, and wellbeing.Passionate about working in an organization that values and promotes diversity, equity, inclusion, anti-racism, and wellbeing.Ability to cultivate and develop inclusive and equitable working relationships with students, faculty, staff, and community members.Important Details about the PositionThis is an onsite position located in Elmont, Long Island, NY.We are unable to provide Visa sponsorship, now or in the future, for this position.Relocation assistance will not be provided for this position.While the regular business hours are 8:00 am to 5:00 pm, the specific schedule may change to meet the needs of the business, requiring employees to work early mornings, evenings, weekends and University holidays and scheduled breaks.What We Offer:Great benefits!
