Major Responsibilities

Under supervision, perform mechanical and facility maintenance, upkeep and operation, of Parks headquarters building and the adjacent Zoo Garage.

Make minor repairs to building electrical, plumbing and heating systems.

Identify and perform facility maintenance needs as needed, e.g. moving furniture, setting up the roof tent and lights, replacing ceiling tiles, fix door hardware, clean out AC filters, clean catch basins.

Perform minor carpet tile replacements.

Maintain, adjust, and make minor repairs of building hardware, furniture, shelving and equipment.

Make minor repairs to masonry, woodwork, flooring and walls.

Assist in relocating building equipment and fixtures as directed.

Complete other maintenance-related tasks as directed.

File reports; keep records and accurate logs of daily activities.

Coordinate with Parks trades shops as needed on jobs and provide timely and excellent customer service to work orders.

License RequirementFor positions in certain agencies, a Motor Vehicle Driver License valid in the State of New York is required. Three years of full-time satisfactory experience as a mechanic, journeyperson or helper in the electrical trades, the mechanical trades, or the construction or maintenance of buildings; or

At least two years of full-time satisfactory experience as described in "1" above plus sufficient full-time training or education in the electrical, mechanical or construction trades in a trade school, technical school or vocational high school to make up the equivalent of three years of acceptable experience. Six months of experience will be credited for each year of full-time acceptable training or education.
