Our goal is for Mount Sinai to become an anti-racist health care and learning institution that intentionally addresses structural racism.”ResponsibilitiesDetails of Research Project: Investigate the role of lymphoid structures in the gut in inflammatory bowel diseases, and the role of intestinal lymphoid structures in response to anti-trafficking therapies. Additionally, the role of intestinal eosinophils in ulcerative colitis and in response to anti-trafficking therapies will be explored, as well as the interactions between, intestinal eosinophils, germinal centers, B lymphocytes and plasma cells.Technical Duties: Flow cytometric and transcriptional characterization of patient-derived intestinal tissues, along with in vitro model systems to obtain mechanistical insights.Goals/Outcomes of the Research Project: To gain mechanistic insights in how intestinal lymphoid structures, antigen-specific immune responses and intestinal eosinophils contribute to the pathogenesis of inflammatory bowel diseases.
