What is a Demand Side Platform (DSP)?

A DSP is a web-based order management system for programmatic ad campaigns. Advertisers create and execute campaigns by entering when to run a campaign, setting targeting criteria to find the right audience, setting bid prices, selecting whether to optimize for clicks, sales, or other metrics, and more. Advertisers interact directly through our website or programmatic APIs. Customers can update campaigns one at a time or in bulk to scale across thousands of campaigns.

What does DSP Campaign Management, the hiring team, do?

The Campaign Management team within Amazon Advertising is building the next generation of products and services that will fuel the growth of Amazon's advertising business. We own the campaign and creative management platforms for Amazon's Demand Side Platform (DSP), which allow sophisticated customers - agency traders and direct advertisers of all sizes to buy advertising across Amazon's multi-channel ad network in a few clicks. The teams vision is to improve the efficiency and effectiveness for customers - agency traders and direct advertisers, creating and managing campaigns and creatives across the Amazon Advertising DSP. This team owns the Campaign Management program that seeks to enable efficient and effective campaign creation and management to simplify various complex segmentation while maintaining and improving upon traders ability to delivery results via high performant advertising campaigns. Marketers interact through our website and/or programmatic APIs and get enterprise-grade access (ex. 100+ campaign controls, 150+ metrics, 15 million+ placement choices, 1000+ campaigns/customer/day).

What does the technical stack look like?

Our browser-based advertising portal is built with a combination of ReactJS, Javascript, Java and REST running on AWS using EC2, DynamoDB, S3, Elastic Search and other AWS services.

What is the Campaign Management team looking for?

Our vision is to become the #1 DSP of choice for marketers for all of their advertising needs in the next three years. Building a sophisticated campaign management console for marketers is a key part of the strategy. We are looking for a Software Development Manager who can own this strategy, define & execute a vision with their engineering team and in partnership with supporting product managers. We expect to deliver many different products & features in the DSP that make it easy for marketers to plan, build, execute, analyze and optimize their advertising campaigns.

If I were hired, what would I be working on?

With our team you'll get the opportunity to own major deliverables building out the DSP. You'll work with product owners, UX designers, Technical Program Managers (TPMs), Software Development Engineers (SDE), and Front End Engineers (FEE) to scope, design, execute, test and launch new features to simplify, automate, and reduce the effort to create and optimize ad campaigns. Our team is continuing to grow and we need to a re-examine our existing architecture and define a bold vision for the next phase focused on ease of use, scaling and developer agility. BASIC QUALIFICATIONS

  • 10+ years of relevant engineering experience
  • 5+ years of experience, managing engineers and managers
  • Experience in partnering with product and program management teams


PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

  • Proven track record with large scale software platform development using Java, C or Python
  • Familiarity with Javascript and modern web frameworks (e.g., React.js)
  • Experience using Amazon Web Services (e.g., EC2, DynamoDB, S3, Lambda, SNS/SQS)
  • Sharp analytical abilities and proven design skills
  • Strong sense of collaboration, ownership, urgency, and drive
  • Experience building and growing teams, focusing both on delivery today and set up for success tomorrow
  • Experience managing programs across cross functional teams, building processes and coordinating release schedules
