We’re seeking talented Sr. Data Engineers with a focus on front-end trading to join our team as we scale up our clients’ proprietary high-frequency trading platform.This is a Full-Time position and is based on-site in Charlotte, NC or New York, NY.Your future duties and responsibilities:As the Sr. Data Engineer, your role will be critical in ensuring efficient data flow and robust infrastructure. Let’s dive into the specifics:Assembling Complex Data Sets: You’ll work with large, intricate data sets that meet both functional and non-functional business requirements. These data sets will include information related to corporate bonds (high yield or investment-grade), market structures, financial calculations (such as yield-to-price conversion) and spread understanding.Process Improvements and Infrastructure Design: Identify and implement internal process enhancements, including redesigning infrastructure for scalability. Optimize data delivery and automate manual processes. Build the necessary infrastructure for optimal data extraction, transformation, and loading (ETL) from various sources using AWS and SQL technologies.Analytical Tool Development: Create analytical tools that utilize the data pipeline, providing actionable insights into key business performance metrics. Understand operational efficiency, customer acquisition, and other critical indicators.Collaboration with Stakeholders: Work closely with data, design, product, and executive teams. Assist them with data-related technical issues and support their data infrastructure needs.Required qualifications to be successful in this role:Minimum of 10 years of capital markets experience to include: Deep Java Expertise: Proficiency in writing, tuning, and configuring Java code. Distributed Memory Fabric Experience: Familiarity with distributed memory systems. Messaging Knowledge: Experience with messaging technologies (e.g., JMS or native messaging). Networking Skills: Understanding of raw TCP/IP and UDP/Multicast, especially reliable multicast implementations. Spring, Gradle, and Docker: Familiarity with these technologies. Relational Databases: Proficiency in working with databases like Postgres or Oracle. Linux Troubleshooting: Highly skilled in Linux scripting Proven verbal/written communication skillsDesired Skills: Java Low Latency Techniques: Knowledge of low-latency techniques (e.g., memory maps, ring buffers, thread pinning, cache line consistency). Other Programming Languages: Experience with C/C, Rust, or Python. Unsafe Memory Access Model: Familiarity with Java Unsafe memory access. Kubernetes and Jenkins: Understanding of Kubernetes configuration and Jenkins scripting. Big Data Experience: Preferably with Hadoop, PIG, or Hive. NoSQL Familiarity: Even experience with databases like MongoDB is acceptable. Market Data Understanding: Knowledge of tick databases and market data streaming. Complex Event Processing: Familiarity with complex event processors.
