Our residents have experienced significant trauma, resulting in behavioral, emotional, and functional/ development issues. Kaplan House offers an extensive independent living skills program, including vocational preparation, and educational services that assists youth towards reaching independence.POSITION OVERVIEW: The Team Leader is a vital part of Milieu Team. The Team Leader at Kapla House supervisors the Direct Support Professional. The Team Leader is the functional supervisor of the program and is responsible for the day-to-day operations of the facility. KEY ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:Provide supervision of Direct Support Professional staff within the facility and ensure appropriate program coverage and staff to youth ratios.Participate in weekly meetings, and individual supervision of Senior Direct Support Professionals and Direct Support Professionals staff.Collaborate and ensure coordination of programming for the youth that includes but is not limited to clinical, recreational, medical, food and school services, as needed.Oversee day-to-day implementation of the clients' service/ treatment plan.Act as integral part of the interviewing process and has strong input into final hiring recommendations.Work in collaboration with the (Director and Assistant Director) and Human Resources to address issues related to staff. Ongoing collaboration with the clinical and nursing staff regarding clients functioning including the modification of Individual Crisis Management Plans ICMP) as necessary. Participate in the intake/admission for new referrals.Provide direct milieu care on an as-needed basis.Expected to complete the Therapeutic Crisis Intervention (TCI) Train the Trainer course and the Foundations courses. Conduct on site trainings to Senior Direct Support Professionals and Direct Support Professionals staff. Become trained in MAT (Medication Administration Training) in order to administer and oversee administration of medication to clients.Become certified to conducting fire drills (S95 and F07 Certificates). Supervises all the documentation (incident reports, progress notes, Individual Crisis Management Plans, missing persons etc) completed by the direct support staff. Respond to all client and environmental crisis, as needed. Perform additional tasks as directed by management.CORE COMPETENCIESfor the position include:Willingness to work with a children/adolescents/ young adults living with the impact of trauma and experience mental health challenges.Compassion and respect for vulnerable individuals.Patience and understanding for the sometimes-slow process of stabilization and recovery.Team ProcessParticipates in intake, assessment, discharge, and follow-up conferences, as needed.Participates in regular staff meetings and trainings. Will be required to respond to crisis at the program. DocumentationFiles incident reports as mandated by the regulatory bodies.Completes regular and timely documentation of all resident interactions, in the electronic records. (Avatar and Connections) Ensures progress notes meet monthly billing documentation requirements, if applicable.EDUCATIONAL/TRAINING REQUIRED:Masters, Bachelors, or Associate Degree required, varies with years of related experience.
