The G&L Limit Strategy team is a first line credit risk management team developing strategies to manage exposure and operational risk from U.S. commercial clients in the Global & US Large Market portfolios. The team is tasked with partnering with Global Commercial Services (GCS), Global Services Group (GSG) and other Credit & Fraud Risk (CFR) teams to develop strategies to grow our business while preventing write-offs. G&L Limit Strategy is led from New York while working with other teams internationally.Job Responsibilities:

Portfolio Management:

Reporting and analyzing trends within the G&L portfolio and identifying areas of concern.

Be the point of contact for the various GCS teams and provide insights, including profitability details, about their portfolios to provide better management and prevent write-offs.

Recognize any policy or communication shortfalls between sales and risk, then aid to overcome and resolve.

Ownership of delinquency case studies within the portfolio to find areas of improvement.

Provide collection support to large balances.

Process Design, Documentation and Training:

Partner with GCS and other CFR teams to identify existing processes and procedures that require enhancements.

Develop and document new processes to enhance the delivery of our products, accuracy of our credit decisions, and the best customer experience.

Critically evaluate risk-related policies and collaborate across teams to implement capabilities, procedures, and new products:

Growth Strategies:

Innovate new ideas for growth within the G&L portfolio, and support G&L Strategy with their growth initiatives

Assist the GCS Product teams with existing or new products to expand the portfolios by being the point of contact representing CFR.

Lead a team of diverse colleagues guiding their development and career growth while empowering them to lead, voice their ideas, make collaboration essential and deliver high performance.

Ability to lead large scale, time sensitive, enterprise-wide projects to successful completion. Proven ability to influence others to achieve complex objectives against tight deadlines.

Experience managing others, with the proven ability to lead a team of professionals, understand their individual needs, and inspire them to achieve a common goal.

Executive presence with excellent communication skills, the ability to listen, and provide input to help senior leadership make informed decisions.

Track record of collaborating and building relationships across organization.

Management of a commercial portfolio through economic cycles and regulatory exams.

Familiarity with banking regulations, particularly those imposed by the Federal Reserve Bank and Office of the Comptroller of the Currency.

Knowledge of probability of default and loss given default.

Fluency in SQL, SAS or Python to drive a data-driven decision-making approach.

Thorough understanding of fundamental financial analysis, including the ability to review financial statements to determine the ability of the obligor to honor its credit obligations.

Understanding of current macroeconomic trends and how to provide recommendations to improve the probability of default estimation based on the business cycle.

Experience with the American Express systems and commercial risk policies

Qualifications:

Minimum 15 years of risk management at a leading financial institution

Bachelor’s degree from a top tier university and a degree (or substantial coursework) in finance, accounting, economics, statistics, or engineering.

Graduate degree or CFA designation preferred
