Pixie Scout’s Corporate Food Service Culinary Lead at Etsy
Pixie Scout is seeking a passionate and experienced culinary manager to lead our corporate food service program at Etsy’s global headquarters. We prepare a wide range of breakfast and lunch items for Etsy employees that are offered across three in-house food services: a grab-and-go “Cafe”, a self-service, buffet-style “Canteen”, and a self-service Salad Bar. We work in well-appointed, newly-renovated kitchens in Etsy’s green, bright, and modern offices in Dumbo, Brooklyn.
The Culinary Lead position is a collaborative management role, focused on the following areas of leadership and responsibility:
Daily Food Service Preparedness:
Planning and directing culinary production, from bulk prep through plating and merchandising, to consistently meet pars and item availability benchmarks
Implementing remediations to menu items or food preparation techniques as needed in response to internal and external food service feedback
Staff Oversight:
Training team members in culinary techniques and the execution of new and rotating menu concepts
Working closely with Pixie Scout’s Etsy Operations Lead to:
Manage a team of 10 Culinary and Facilities team members
Lead periodic staff meetings
Hire, onboard, and train new team members
Maintain DOHMH compliance in all culinary spaces
Inventory Management:
Managing onsite food product inventory across multiple kitchens, spanning multiple floors
Working closely with Pixie Scout’s Culinary Director to place orders and requisition prepared food product from the Pixie Scout commissary
Prioritizing initiatives to minimize food waste, including:
Effective inventory management
Strategic menu planning
Engaging with community partners to donate and distribute food product
Participation in the building’s compost program
Menu Planning:
Collaboratively planning new menus quarterly with the Pixie Scout and Etsy Leadership team
Leading culinary team in recipe-testing new items, as needed
Documenting menu item recipes and preparation procedures
Facilitating the remediation of menu items and menu concepts based on feedback from Pixie Scout and Etsy
Collaborating with Guest Culinary Professionals:
As part of our Etsy Chef Residency program, working with Pixie Scout’s leadership team to:
Welcome accomplished guest chefs to Etsy
Participate in culinary sessions with guest chefs to learn their recipes and put finishing touches on their menus
Support the Culinary Team in the execution of guest chef menus
Supporting Overall Operations:
Attending weekly meetings with Pixie Scout’s Etsy leadership team, focused on the coordination of food service operations
Supporting Full Service Events team, commissary, and Etsy Operations Lead in the execution of occasional drop-off catering platters and onsite full-service events

Job requirements:
4+ years of professional culinary experience
1+ year of professional culinary leadership experience
Understanding of and adherence to NYC DOHMH standards and policies
NYC Food Protection Certificate required
Able to stand for at least 8 hours and complete tasks that may require lifting up to 50 lbs.
English Language Proficiency: written and verbal fluency required
Computer Skills: Google Workspace applications including Docs and Sheets, mobile applications including Slack and Homebase
Job details:
40 hour work week, Monday - Friday
Daily schedule that falls between 6:30 AM - 5:30 PM
For this position, we are offering a starting salary of $65,000.00 annually
