Very busy upscale Times Square restaurant is seeking an energetic and detail-oriented Kitchen Manager to work with our Sous chef to lead our culinary team and oversee daily kitchen operations. This pivotal role combines culinary expertise with management skills to ensure exceptional food quality, safety, and customer satisfaction. As a Kitchen Manager, you and the sous chef will be responsible for maintaining high standards in food preparation, inventory control, staff training, and overall kitchen efficiency. Your leadership will drive a positive work environment and foster team development. Must have a food handlers card. Ideal candidate will work Monday-Friday 9am-8pm

Responsibilities

All BOH ordering

Expo'ing 3 nights a week

Supervise all aspects of kitchen operations, including food preparation, cooking, and presentation to ensure consistency and quality.

Manage inventory control by monitoring stock levels, ordering supplies, and minimizing waste through effective food management practices.

Oversee food safety protocols and ensure compliance with health regulations and sanitation standards.

Lead staff training and development initiatives, including onboarding new team members, conducting performance evaluations, and providing ongoing coaching in food handling, culinary techniques, and customer service.

Coordinate shift management by scheduling staff appropriately to meet business demands while maintaining a positive work environment.

Implement and monitor food production processes to optimize efficiency without compromising quality.

Conduct regular kitchen audits to ensure cleanliness, safety standards, and adherence to company policies.

Collaborate with restaurant management on budgeting, cost control measures, and menu planning to enhance profitability.

Support catering events, banquet services, or special functions as needed to expand the restaurant’s offerings.

Assist in interviewing prospective team members and making hiring decisions aligned with staffing needs.

Foster a culture of teamwork, hospitality excellence, and continuous improvement among kitchen staff.

Skills

Proven experience in food preparation, cooking techniques, and kitchen management within fast-paced environments such as quick service or casual dining restaurants.

Expertise in inventory control, food safety standards and food handling procedures.

Demonstrated leadership skills with experience in staff training, team management, supervising shifts, and developing talent.

Experience managing budgets, controlling costs, and implementing food production strategies for profitability.

Familiarity with catering operations or banquet services is a plus.

Ability to multitask effectively while maintaining high standards of cleanliness and safety in the kitchen environment.

Strong communication skills for coordinating with front-of-house teams and suppliers.
