We are looking for a Kitchen Manager to lead the daily operations of our busy restaurant’s BOH staff. As the kitchen manager, you will oversee food prep, order supplies, schedule shifts, monitor inventory levels, and lead the kitchen during service.

Back-of-the-house management experience is essential, as you’ll assist in the hiring of qualified Cooks and set work schedules, sometimes oversee the expo line, and make sure we comply with health and safety restaurant regulations. We’ll expect you to lead by example and uplift our staff during busy moments in our fast-paced environment. Ultimately, you will make sure the company standards are upheld: the food looks good and is cooked properly, the proportions are correct, and it is cooked and served quickly and safely.

Responsibilities

- Conduct training on restaurant procedures and expectations with all departments, and levels of Management.

- Communicate with front of house managers regarding the pace of service, special needs, and general guest satisfaction.

- Develop a schedule for kitchen staff to ensure coverage and maximize operational efficiencies.

- Collaborate with Human Resources in hiring, interviews, disciplinary actions, and coaching by scheduling HR meetings with staff members and potential candidates.

- Coordinate with executive members on menu offerings, specials, and dish feedback

- Establish relationships with vendors

- Place food and supply orders as necessary

- Ensure the kitchen is properly cleaned and sanitized in accordance with Department of Health standards

- Ensure the food is prepared to order and in a timely manner

- Supervising food preparation and cooking process

- Maintaining health and safety standards

- Strong ability to lead a team

- Resolve food quality issues

- Other duties as assigned

Skills

- 5+ years of experience managing a high-volume restaurant in NYC

- Bilingual in English and Spanish

- Valid Food Handler’s Card

- Excellent people skills

- Superior attention to detail

- Proficient with budgeting

- Skilled negotiator in accordance with food costs

- Available to work weekends, holidays, and frequent late nights

- Expert in hiring kitchen staff for a high-volume restaurant

- Punctuality

Job Type: Full-time

Salary: Beginning at $75,000.00 per year
