Service Manager, upscale casual restaurant

We are an established small restaurant group in NYC, seeking a Service Manager (SM) for one of our locations. We are open for dinner only 7 nights a week. The SM works with one other manager to run the restaurant, receiving guidance and operational support from Owners and Director of Operations (DOO). The SM is expected to close 3-5 nights per week and work 40-50 hours per week. This position has immediate growth potential to GM.

The Service Manager is responsible for overseeing operations and service and ensuring a wonderful experience for our guests through excellent hospitality and service. The Service Manager partners with the Director of Operations and the Chef to set, meet, and exceed the goals for the restaurant location. Candidates must possess strong leadership skills, a warm and friendly demeanor, and a love of hospitality.

Your role:

-Lead the FOH (Front of House) and BOH (Back of House) teams to consistently create great experiences for our guests

-Solicit guest feedback, both directly and through the front-line service team

-Regularly offer positive and constructive feedback to the FOH team to achieve our goals

-work closely with the Executive Chef and kitchen team for smooth running service

-Coaching and guide all team members

-Manage time efficiently to balance operational and administrative tasks and running dinner service.

-Work with the DOO to streamline systems for highest operational efficiency

-Constant training of all team members and reviewing standards of service.

-Oversee the host team to make sure we are maximizing the book, and not turning away guests.

-Guest liaison- respond to reviews, assist regulars as needed, etc

-Work with DOO and Chefs to make sure we are following all Federal, State and Local laws and regulations in regard to employees and operations

-Daily Department of Health checklist

- work with DOO and Chefs on physical plant maintenance

- ensure that FOH team has the supplies they need

Responsibilities may include:

-Oversee the beverage program, including wine, liquor, beer, and non-alcoholic beverages.

-Prepare payroll for accounting

-Prepare schedule for FOH team

What we need from you:

-3+ years of leadership experience in restaurants and hospitality

-Proficient knowledge of systems and processes in restaurant management

-Proficient in Microsoft 365

-Strong business and financial acumen

-English fluency and Spanish knowledge preferred

-Ability to carry 25lbs+

-Ability to stand for several hours a night during service

What you’ll get from us:
