Full-Time Medical Secretary
Our adolescent-young adult medical practice is seeking a full-time medical secretary. Prior experience is a must. Ideal candidates have a positive work ethic, attention to detail and strong interpersonal skills. As medical secretary, your primary responsibility is to ensure that our patients have a positive experience and to continue to promote the pre-eminent nature of our practice. Other responsibilities include managing order in the office to help facilitate efficiency for the physician by creating and maintaining systems for medical records, appointment scheduling, confirming appointments, and patient flow.
Duties include:
Interacting with patients who have complex medical conditions on a daily basis, in person, over the phone and through email communication
Meeting and greeting visitors and patients, and directing or accompanying them to the appropriate physician
Managing appointments for new patients, follow-up, sick visits and ensure that the physician has ample time for each patient as well as confirming all appointments
Help patients fill out forms to record their personal information, medical histories and insurance details
Process laboratory specimens and complete proper laboratory order forms
Handle sensitive medical information with care while respecting all state and federal laws and regulations regarding patient privacy
Maintain exam rooms, including stocking and preparation
Knowledge of medical terminology and ICD10 coding
Prior authorization for diagnostic testing and prescriptions
Preparation of school/work forms, medical necessity letters, absent/late notes
Preparation of charts and encounter forms
Work directly with the physician to triage and facilitate patient care
A desire to learn and an ability to have compassion for all patients is a must
