Position Summary:
The Respiratory Therapist will work within the Sleep Center to provide education and support to patients diagnosed with sleep apnea. This role focuses on CPAP therapy setup, mask fitting, troubleshooting, and ongoing patient coaching to promote comfort, compliance, and successful long-term use of PAP devices.
Key Responsibilities:
Conduct one-on-one patient appointments to teach proper CPAP equipment use, mask placement, and machine operation.
Perform mask fittings to ensure comfort, correct sizing, and effective therapy seal.
Educate patients on cleaning, maintenance, and troubleshooting of CPAP devices and accessories.
Monitor patient comfort, compliance reports, and therapy progress; provide follow-up support as needed.
Collaborate with Sleep Physicians and Technologists to ensure continuity of care and patient success.
Document education sessions, patient progress, and equipment settings in the medical record.
Provide supportive coaching to help patients adjust to therapy and overcome common barriers (dryness, pressure intolerance, claustrophobia, etc.).
Qualifications:
Licensed Respiratory Therapist (RRT or CRT)
Experience in sleep medicine or CPAP therapy preferred
Strong patient communication and teaching skills
Compassionate, patient-centered approach
